Dear Yll, Ive been thinking a lot lately about nothing. Curious how it can cut both ways. Take the idea, for example, that nothing can save us. It could be understood negatively or positively, because, in a positive sense, nothing CAN save us. Just imagine the peace of turning almost everything off and coasting along on the sea of moments that we call time. Ironic, is it not? Nothing out there can save us, but accepting the majestic beauty of nothingness itself might possibly save us. The kingdom is within.Bill Joyner (6/19/0) |

CRASH O my gosh! you think, as these tough street stories unroll across the screen, accompanied by a steady stream of expetives exploding like grenades of anger all around. Violent dialogs, vicious intentions, necessary deeds of deliverance, mixed emotions, diverse parallel worlds. And beneath it all, a question we all must face now and then, Should we intervene ... or just leave it alone? And with every choice, a gamble in terms of what miracles or tragedies might occur if we do or do not intervene? Moments of sheer malice and blunder blend with scenes of incredible wonder as the ultra-believable characters in CRASH are inter-mingled in a sea of chance. Dont turn anything off. You just have to stay with it, thats all. For there is a chance that the difficult truth of CRASH might reveal something quite surprising the possibility of impossible reunions and unimaginable transformations.

UNITED 93 The story of UNITED 93, the doomed 9/11 flight, destined to end in a field somewhere in Pennsylvania, is a sensitvie and serious recreation of events on that terrible morning in 2001. It begins with the eventual suicide pilot quietly reading The Koran, deep in a trance of worshipful devotion, getting ready for his really big day. And, as you might expect, we are introduced to the passengers, just average folks like you and I, rubbing shoulders with strangers, being freindly and folksy. We know the story inside out by now, but its still a healthy reminder of what were up against holy roly jihadists whose single-minded passion is that all not like them must be destroyed.

On PBS TV, I learned about how single-mindedly and valiantly Eugene O'Neill (sp?) struggled to complete about 16 volumes and variations of what his overwhelming masterpiece, A LONG DAYS JOURNEY INTO NIGHT. Because of his rapidly diminishing health and ability to go on, he boiled it (and, indeed, the entire story of his existence) down to the necessary essence. | |||||||||

We must be, therefore, always open to everyday opportunities and possibilities. -- Bill Joyner

It takes time to be holy, to water and feed the animals and plants, to re-beriend a distant friend. It takes time to be still, to stretch, to breathe, to pray. It takes time to write a note, to read a book, to review, to recharge and to revive, to mend an error, to devise and act upon a plan. It takes time.

Some things I have heard about THE CELESTIAL CAROUSEL from initial readership: "t touched me." "Provocative" "Nothing in there is boring." Some people report their pleasure in being able to look at just one thought or page and put the book aside 'till next time. Others have expressed appreciation for the variety afforded by the inclusion of quotations from different writers and sources. Hey, I read it myself now and then, and in my opinion, it's a great little coffee table or gift item book, good looking and substantive. At present, a slightly revised 2nd edition if being prepared, so if you'd like an advance copy reserved, just send $20, which includes mailing costs. Plus, I'll autograph each copy that goes out. |

My once and future book, THE
CELESTIAL CAROUSEL, is on hold 'till around late September when I
hope to make an appearance with it somewhere in the vicinity of
Wilton, Connecticut, assuming that I will find the energy necessary
to actualize such An Evening with Bill Joyner, which will be an
introduction to THE CELESTIAL CAROUSEL and some vintage youth scene
film footage from events in that area circa 1969. Volunteer help
toward this end would be more than welcome in terms of (a) funding,
(b) dvd projection equipment, (c) leg or phone work on acquiring a
venue (my first choice -- the Wilton Library), and (d) providing
addresses of possibly interested persons in the area -- any or all
of that would be helpful. Thanks! -- Bill Joyner. |
